Biography
Nicholas Navarro is an experienced Criminal Defense and Workers’ Compensation Attorney who was born and raised in Ottawa, Illinois. He earned his law degree from John Marshall Law School in 2014 and began his legal career as a public defender in Will County. Mr. Navarro later worked as a Felony Drug Prosecutor in La Salle County, gaining valuable experience on both sides of the courtroom. Mr. Navarro also headed the forfeiture division of the Office where he learned the ins and outs of the Civil Asset Forfeiture process and the deep impact it has on local citizens and their families.
Mr. Navarro then spent several years defending workers’ compensation claims on behalf of employers where he gained valuable insights into the partnership between employers, insurance companies, and medical professionals. Mr. Navarro quickly determined that he preferred to be on the side of the worker, and now represents injured employees before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Mr. Navarro’s diverse background has taught him important skills, including, but not limited to, understanding the investigative process, recognizing police missteps, knowing the rights of individuals who are injured on the job, and developing effective trial techniques whether the matter is before a Jury, Judge, or Arbitrator. He now uses this expertise to provide empathetic and understandable representation to his clients in both Criminal Court and before the Illinois Worker’s Compensation Commission.
In addition to his legal work, Mr. Navarro coaches law students in trial preparation and performance for National Mock Trial competitions. Mr. Navarro has been licensed to practice law since 2014 and is currently working as a senior associate here at the Law Office of Juan C. Martinez, LLC.
